Professor Rüdiger Lohlker, currently serves as a professor at the Institute for Near Eastern Studies at the University of Vienna in Austria since 2003. Professor Rüdiger Lohlker previously served as the director of the Institute for Near Eastern Studies at the University of Vienna. He is a member of several academic organizations, including the International Advisory Committee of the World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies (WOCMES), ESA Sociology of Religion Board, and the Advisory Committee of the Institute for Islamic Studies at the University of Vienna.

Professor Rüdiger Lohlker has extensive publications include works such as Islamic Law (2012), Muslims in Austria (2012), Theology of Violence: IS as an example (2016) and Saudi Arabia in the Mirror of Saudi Cables (2020). Some of his recent notable articles include "Islamic Legal Schools: History and Structure" (2017), "Representation with/out Representation: Saudia Arabia as a Hidden Face of Globalization" (2018), "Historical Theology from an Eschatological Perspective" (2018), and " Jawdat Saʿid and the Islamic Theology and Practice of Peace" (2022). Additionally, Professor Lohlker has contributed to encyclopedias such as The Oxford International Encyclopedia of Legal History.
