Abstract: In recent years, cultural translation has experienced rapid development against the backdrop of Chinese culture going global, with national-level cultural translation projects such as Chinese Academic Translation and Silk Road Book Project. General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech on May 31 called for the enhancement of China's international communication capabilities, which cannot be separated from the improvement of cultural translation abilities. The development of cultural translation abilities relies on the advancement of cognitive translation. This study explores the role of cognitive translation in cultural translation and constructs a cognitive translation theory of cultural translation from a new theoretical perspective, thereby promoting the development of cultural translation and providing theoretical support for Chinese culture going global. Through the construction of cognitive translation theory of cultural translation, we can effectively enhance China's capabilities of international communication, tell Chinese stories well, spread Chinese voice, contribute to the construction of China's international discourse system, and ultimately make contributions to enhancing China's cultural soft power through cognitive translation research.
