Wang Tiezheng, professor at the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies at Northwest University (awarded as one of the first-level professors at Northwest University in 2010), doctoral supervisor, vice chairman of the Academic Committee of Northwest University, expert in the Discipline Planning of the National Social Science Fund (World History), and consultant to the Chinese Association of Middle East Studies, among other titles. Professor Wang has been enjoying a special government allowance from the State Council since October 1993. His main research areas include general history of the Middle East, regional history, national history, modernization movements in Middle Eastern countries, contemporary social trends in the Middle East, and comprehensive studies on Saudi Arabia. And he has led or participated in seven national-level projects funded by the National Social Science Fund, the Ministry of Education, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Additionally, he had authored over 20 academic books (as editor or co-author) and published nearly 80 papers.
