Yu Jianhua, vice president of the Chinese Association of Middle East Studies, researcher at the Institute of International Issues at Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, doctoral supervisor, and editor-in-chief of Journal of International Relations. He also serves as the director of the Center for World History Studies and the Center for European Studies, as well as the vice director of the Jewish Studies Center and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Studies Center. Additionally, he acts as a consultant expert for the Shanghai Branch of Xinhua News Agency.

Yu has been a visiting scholar at International Institute for Asian Studies in Netherland and the University of Bonn in Germany. Previously, he held positions such as director of the Eurasian Research Institute at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and deputy director of the Institute of International Issues, as well as chief expert of the innovation team in the discipline of international security.

Yu Jianhua has served and is currently serving in various executive roles in organizations such as Chinese Association of Asian and African Studies, World Ethnology Society, and Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Center. He has presided over and undertaken several major, key, and annual projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation, as well as multiple projects from the Shanghai Municipal Social Science Planning Office. He has authored and co-authored several monographs, including Nationalism: Intersection of Historical Heritage and Contemporary Trends and Nationalism, State Structure, and Internationalization. He has also been recognized multiple times with awards for outstanding academic achievements in social sciences in Shanghai since 1998.
