At 4:30 PM,April 26, 2023, Professor Ray Taheri from the University of British Columbia in Canada was invited to give the 15th lecture in the “Distinguished Lecture Series” at the School of Foreign Languages, Northwest University. The lecture, titled “Global Paradigm Shift in Higher Education”, was held in the Lecture Hall of the Second Classroom of our school and was attended by around a hundred faculty and students.
Firstly, Dean Cao Ruonan welcomed Professor Ray Taheri and briefly introduced his academic background and remarkable achievements. Then, Professor Taheri passionately and clearly analyzed the profound changes occurring in global higher education and the new challenges and requirements they pose to educators, especially foreign language teachers in universities, using vivid image displays, data analysis, and interactive Q&A sessions.
Finally, Professor Taheri engaged in a warm and friendly interactive exchange with our faculty, provided detailed answers to questions concerning teaching methods, pedagogical skills, and discussed the application of new teaching concepts in specific teaching practices.
Professor Taheri’s lecture was engaging and inspiring, and both faculty and students were actively involved in discussions, significantly expanded their international perspectives and enhanced their understanding of current and future foreign language teaching concepts and methods.
