To further strengthen the construction of our graduate supervisor team and comprehensively improve their level, the school held a new semester graduate supervisor training session on the afternoon of May 17th in the fifth-floor conference room of the West Building. All the master’s supervisors attended the meeting, which was chaired by Dean Cao Ruonan.
Firstly, the supervisor representatives summarized and provided suggestions on the problems present in the thesis proposal presentations of the 2021 MTI graduate students, and focused on aspects such as the completeness of translation practice, the alignment between translation theory and practice, the professionalism of thesis formatting, and the standardization of language expression. Secondly, Zhou Dan,the graduate secretary, combined relevant institutional documents from the school to summarize the issues existing in the opening presentations and degree applications, provided an overview, and addressed matters such as enrollment and the selection of supervisors.
Finally, Dean Cao delivered concluding remarks. She addressed the issue of graduate employment, and conveyed the spirit of the school’s graduate work conference. She emphasized that as the primary person responsible for graduate education, supervisors should be aware of students’ employment situations, provide relevant information to students, and also pay attention to their psychological well-being.
As an important part of the supervisor team construction, the school will continue to organize diverse forms of training sessions to promote the implementation of the supervisors’ responsibilities in moral education and students nurturing.
