On October 11th, the assessment of the Professional Degree Program for Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) at our school proceeded smoothly. The expert panel for this assessment consists of six renowned external experts and scholars: Professor Xu Yuchen from Xi’an International Studies University, Professor Ma Gang from Xi’an University of Electronic Science and Technology, Professor Sun Jian from Shaanxi Normal University, Researcher Xu Weihong from Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology, Researcher He Zhoude from Xi’an Banpo Museum, and Chairman Zhao Qi from Shaanxi Ruiheng Asset Appraisal Co., Ltd. Additionally, Xue Yaxin, Deputy Director of the Quality Management Office of the Graduate School, school leaders, and Professor He Hua, Director of the MTI Center, participated. The assessment was presided over by our school’s Dean Cao Ruonan.
The expert panel first attended classes of the 2023 Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) as observers and later proceeded to the school’s conference room to hear a report from the head of the degree program. Dean Cao, on behalf of the school, warmly welcomed the experts and provided a detailed overview of our university’s MTI professional degree education, covering aspects such as its foundational structure, distinctive features, and talent cultivation.

The expert panel attentively listened to the presentation and, based on the evaluation materials, conducted on-site questioning and assessment. After thorough discussions, they reached a unanimous consensus, and highly affirmed our school’s establishment and operation of MTI education. They considered that our school’s development of the Master of Translation and Interpreting Authorization Point met the evaluation criteria. Additionally, they provided valuable suggestions regarding curriculum design, university-enterprise cooperation and employment assistance.

This special evaluation of the degree-granting program is a comprehensive review of the level of education and the quality of training in our MTI professional degree program. It serves as an important means of supervising the quality of graduate education. The school will take this evaluation as an opportunity to further refine its educational experience, integrate teaching resources, highlight disciplinary characteristics, tackle shortcomings and deficiencies, and strive to continuously promote the optimization and adjustment of the degree-granting program. SFL will spare no effort to elevate the quality of talent training in our Professional Degree Program of Master of Translation and Interpreting to a new level.
