In the afternoon of Sep. 4th, our college held the 2013 freshmen meeting at the Chang’an campus. Hosted by deputy party secretary, Mr. Kang Lianke, the party and government leaders, professional teachers from English major as well as the Japanese major attended the meeting.
Firstly, Mr. Kang delivered a welcome speech to all the freshmen and introduced all the leaders and teachers that attended. After the majestic national anthem, our dean, Cui Yaping, gave a speech. She said that the coming of the 2013 freshmen have brought new vitality and new colors to Foreign College. She hoped that all the freshmen should be able to adapt to college life soon with a right attitude of working hard and become the talents our country needs.
After that, the teachers’ representative Professor Hu Zongfeng and Mrs. Deng Xiumei gave their speech. Mr. Hu told the students that it is the students’ bounden duty to study. Therefore, the students should view study as the most important task, studying assiduously, and get prepared to achieve their goals. Mrs. Deng from Japanese major expressed her good wish to the students that they should learn to study, to be a good person and to do the things right.
After the speech of the students’ representative, the college secretary of the party committee, Mr. Dong Guoqiang proposed three prospects to the freshmen. First, they should have a lofty idea and a firm confidence; second, they should pay attention to the methods and study scientifically and efficiently; third, they should develop good reading habits and the habit of independent thinking in order to promote the quality of ascension.
Then, Mr. Kang gave a conclusion. He said that the holding of the freshmen meeting means the beginning of the new semester, and he hoped that all the students would study hard, keep forging ahead and be healthy.
