According to the plan, the 2022 Democratic Life Meeting for Party Members and Cadres of the School of Foreign Languages was held in the conference room of the school on the afternoon of February 27. Zhang Qing, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee, Li Zhenhai, Minister of the Party Committee Organization Department, Dong Guoqiang, Head of the Second Group of the School's Internal Guidance Team and Minister of the Party Committee United Front Work Department, Yang Jiayi, Liaison Officer of the Second Group of the School's Internal Guidance Team, as well as all members of the school's leadership team, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Wang Jun, Secretary of the School Party Committee.
At the meeting, Wang Jun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, on behalf of the leadership team of the school, conducted a comparative inspection, introduced the implementation of the rectification measures for the special democratic life meeting on party history learning and education, as well as the special rectification of prominent problems in inspection and rectification in the education sector, and reported on the preparations of the school in terms of learning and discussion, soliciting opinions and suggestions, conducting heart-to-heart talks, and preparing materials for the comparative inspection of the leadership team. Representing the leadership team of the school, he examined the issues of unclear ideological direction, insufficient unity and cooperation, and inadequate role transformation around the "six key aspects" content, combined with the actual work, and proposed strengthening theoretical armament, firming up ideals and beliefs, strengthening political construction, strict party discipline cultivation, firm purpose consciousness, daring to take responsibility and fulfill duties, adhering to integrity and self-discipline, and establishing a good image rectification measures.
Subsequently, the Party members and leading cadres of the school conducted comparative inspections one by one. With a loyal attitude towards the Party and a sense of responsibility for the cause, they conducted in-depth and comprehensive comparative inspections focusing on the six key aspects, including a profound understanding of the decisive significance of the "Two Establishments" decision, combined with the actual work situation. Based on this, they conducted a thorough analysis of the reasons for the problems and proposed practical rectification measures. At the same time, following the principle of "unity-criticism-unity" from the perspective of the development of the school's cause and personal growth, the members of the leadership team carried out criticism and self-criticism in depth. Self-criticism was linked to reality, targeted at specific problems, and touched upon ideological aspects. Mutual criticism was conducted directly, straightforwardly, and in good faith, starting from specific problems, and achieved the effect of unifying thinking and promoting work.
After the comparative inspections by the leadership team and individuals, Dong Guoqiang, Head of the Second Group of the School's Internal Guidance Team and Minister of the Party Committee United Front Work Department, commented on this democratic life meeting. Minister Dong believed that this democratic life meeting had three characteristics: first, the identification of problems was profound, and the analysis was in-depth; second, self-criticism was comprehensive, and criticism was accurate; third, the rectification measures were pragmatic, and the understanding was in place. He also made three suggestions: first, deepen the implementation of the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China; second, review and rectify problems and increase rectification efforts; third, strengthen the overall construction of the leadership team.
Li Zhenhai, Minister of the Party Committee Organization Department, made three suggestions for improving the quality of the democratic life meeting. Thirdly, he suggested that rectification measures should be further clarified and actionable. Secondly, unify hearts and minds to promote development, strengthen the construction of the leadership team and workforce. Thirdly, strengthen discipline construction and deepen reforms in foreign language teaching.
In his speech, Zhang Qing, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee, first affirmed the school's dedication and overall awareness in its work last year. He believed that the issues identified in this democratic life meeting were profound, and further efforts should be made in rectification. Drawing on this democratic life meeting, Secretary Zhang Qing put forward four suggestions: Firstly, strengthen learning, raise one's position, and cultivate a learning-oriented leadership team. It is necessary to enhance awareness of learning, integrate national policies with the characteristics of foreign language disciplines, clarify development positioning, formulate top-level designs, and innovate ways and methods.
