Our department consists of 27 faculty members, including 3 professors and 8 associate professors, who are devoted to their research work and the teaching of English to undergraduate non-English Majors that enter the university in the odd-numbered years. 11 of the teachers have had the experience of studying in English-speaking countries, and 19 have got their Master’ Degrees and some are studying for a Doctor’s Degree. Most of the teachers are under the age of 40, and we are a dynamic team of teaching excellence.
The faculty members are devoted to research work in addition to their excellent teaching. They have been in charge of or participated in many researches at provincial, ministerial and university level, which resulted in hundreds of officially published papers and dozens of published books. Our work has been recognized and the department was presented the “Advanced Teaching Management Group” award by the University in 1999. Many teachers have won awards of all kinds from the University, and one of them has won the national “Fok Ying Tung Young Teacher Award” third prize.
